Athlete Profile: Claire Bronson
I confess, I don’t have time to do this. My life is full with launching my own business, caring for an orchard and building an overachieving vegetable garden, a family and all the other interests that take time like printmaking, nature journalling, volunteering, not to mention friends and extended family. But somehow, I can’t afford not to do this either. Isn’t life a paradox (or a pair-of-ducks according to my fowl-breeding neighbor here on Vashon Island?
See, I am just a normal, everyday busy-kind-of-person, in OK shape, but wanting to stretch myself a little further this year. The Train for Humanity project gives me a great opportunity to just that, all for a good cause. So for the next few months, I’ll swim more, run a little and bike a lot (hate the running part!) along with the exercise I get through my farm and yoga practice. I’ll hope for a few more hours in the day and some great local people to train with, along with support from my online community to really enjoy the journey.
Times are tough right now for all of us. We are all working double-time and I feel compelled to do a little more this year. And this is not only for selfless reasons. I can use the endorphins that this project will generate but also the hope and goodwill that raising funds for classrooms in Darfur (http://trainforhumanity.org/about/mission/) will generate in my soul.
