Everyday athletes are the core of what Train for Humanity is all about.
If you are interested in becoming one of our athletes, here’s how you can participate!
Ola Powazynska
I participated in a marathon in Lebork, Poland, on June 21st. I say ‘participated’, because I didn’t finish it. I didn’t drop my training and say “To hell with running!” On the contrary: I’m even more determined now to run and finish my next marathon. This time it will take place in Scotland, around the picturesque Loch Ness.
Laura Palmero
Laura lives in Houston where she coordinates a study on Marfan syndrome for Baylor College of Medicine and she will be competing in the Silverlake Triathlon.
Bernie Tretta
My name is Bernie Tretta and I am a runner, triathlete and food lover from Houston, Texas. I make my living managing cancer clinical trials but it doesn't move me the way cupcakes do.
Vaishnav
Vaishnav is an engineer by day with an
aspiration to become a social entrepreneur. Based in Melbourne,
Australia, his company currently works with non-profits to implement
open source solutions that enhance productivity.
Deb Brown
Debra Brown is a baby boomer who lives in Iowa. The past two years there has been a lot of changes in her life: she quit smoking, changed jobs, moved from North Carolina to Iowa – and gained a lot of weight.
Claire Bronson
Claire lives on Vashon Island, just off Seattle, where she is working to restore a wetland area and forest area. Her educational background ranges from a BS in natural resources management from Humboldt State University to a MA in Organizational Systems. Her broad learning background includes natural resources, organizational systems, and fine art and design. This fuels her passion for creating new connections between people, nature and art.
David Spence
David lives in Malaysia where he is self employed. He has a very aggressive endurance race schedule for 2009.
Jarkko Laine
Jarkko is a Train for Humanity fan turned team member. After following the project through its first phase, he felt that it was time for him to join the team, and offered to help with updating the web site to support the requirements set for the second phase.
He lives in Finland with his wife and soon two years old son Oiva, and enjoys connecting with people from all over the world through the Internet.
